Immortality Series - Nipsey

Nipsey is now on loan with The Hip Hop Museum in the Bronx. Go by the Culture Lab to see it in person.

This portrait of Nipsey Hussle is made from 1,800 hand cut pieces of 1/8” thick stainless steel. The individual pieces are visible and left raw and untouched.

This piece serves to share his story and impact on Hip Hop culture, Los Angeles community and the foundations he started that are still operational and driving change every day. His message was clear - it was all about building up your community, maintaining ownership of what you create and helping those closest to you. His influence has empowered artists to keep money in their pockets instead of losing it to major labels.

The piece is left as an industrial finish, showcasing his raw nature. The mirror finish of the eyes shows the path through; the vision he set into motion but was sadly cut short.
